About our products

All items, both jewelry and artwork, are completely handmade, unique and one of a kind. Nothing is mass-produced. This provides many options for customization and personalization, but also explains why your piece takes longer to make. There are no other hired hands producing these pieces and each is handmade by me alone. No two pieces are exactly alike. Minor differences in sizes, colors, antiquing, shapes and markings are to be expected. Letters and numbers are stamped or engraved by hand and may not be perfectly lined up, as they are not placed by machine. Please note that photos are taken up close so as to show the details of each piece. Sometimes this makes it difficult to visualize the actual size of the piece. Please refer to item size descriptions and compare to a ruler to get an accurate picture of the item’s true dimensions. Listed item sizes are approximate and not exact. Please also note that resolution and colors vary among computer monitors, and while I do my best to represent colors accurately, I cannot guarantee that what you see on our site is a completely accurate representation of the actual piece’s colors. Because custom and personalized orders are not returnable, please contact us prior to ordering if you have ANY questions or concerns.

All jewelry pendants and charms are finished with a smooth, polished edge unless otherwise noted or requested. A vintage “wax seal” or rustic edge finish is available upon request at no additional charge. Each look and finish is personal preference, both very beautiful, but with a different overall feel. If unsure which look would work best for your design, please contact me prior to finalizing your order. All jewelry is polished to a high shine and oxidized to darken recessed areas, unless otherwise noted in item descriptions. An unoxidized and/or satin finish is available on any jewelry piece upon request at no additional charge. All other artwork is sealed with a satin finish UV protectant unless requested otherwise. All jewelry pieces are finished off with either an attached dangling logo tag or stamped with a small logo on the piece. All artwork is signed by the artist, me.

Returns & Exchanges

I want you to love your handmade jewelry! If you are not 100% satisfied with your order, please contact me within 7 days of receipt for an exchange or refund. Items must be in "new" condition and in original packaging to be considered returnable. After that 7 day period, ability to return items is up to seller discretion. Please contact me to obtain return authorization before returning your item. Any custom or personalized items are FINAL SALE and not returnable. This includes pieces featuring names, dates, quotes or monograms. The only exception is when an error is made on the part of the seller. If the SELLER is responsible for an error in an order, the item will be remade and shipped free of charge. Custom order errors, such as misspellings and incorrect dates, which are made by the PURCHASER will be redone for a fee. Please check and recheck all spellings, dates, etc. for accuracy before finalizing your order. If ordering a ring, it is recommended that you have your finger sized by a professional jeweler. Returns of rings follow the same policy as above. Returned items will be refunded in the original form of payment. Shipping charges are not refundable unless the return is due to seller error. Please contact me if you need an item repaired. In many cases repairs may be done without charge, unless the damage appears to be due to improper care and usage. Repairs and replacement orders will be handled as quickly as possible.

Each jewelry item is completely made by hand and requires a several step process from start to finish; therefore, please allow 14 to 21 days for production during off peak times, plus shipping time. During seasons of heavy volume orders may not ship out until 4 to 5 weeks after the order is placed (these times include Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day). Custom artwork often takes even longer to complete, so timeframes for completion are determined on an individual basis. Please contact me if you need your order rushed and I will do everything I can to make sure you receive it in time for that special event! Rush shipping can also be added to any order for an additional charge. If an order is placed very last minute and it is a situation where I am unable to “rush” it and finish it, there is the option to present a Gift Enclosure in a gift box to be presented until the actual piece is ready and ships. Please contact me to arrange this special circumstance and to ascertain whether or not an item can be rushed through fast enough to meet your needs. Unable to decide on the perfect gift? Gift cards are available in any denomination and do not expire. It is the responsibility of gift card recipients to keep gift cards in their possession until redeemed. All orders are started after the order details are finalized and payment is received.

At Julie James Art I reserve the right to adjust the price of my jewelry items on an as needed basis. Each piece is priced based on the amount of time and labor invested in its design and production, as well as the cost of materials used. The price of each piece will reflect the current market price for the metal that is used to create it. The market rate of silver and gold has sharply increased as of late and therefore jewelry prices will reflect that increase as well. White and yellow bronze are an economical and beautiful alternative to silver and gold. They are a close match to the more expensive alternatives at a fraction of the cost. All handmade pendants and charms are available in fine silver, sterling silver, or yellow bronze. In some instances an overlay of pure silver or 22 Kt gold may be added as an accent. All clasps, chains and hand wire wrapped links are made using either sterling silver, gold-filled or bronze wire and is specified for each item listed. No nickel or silver plate is used in any of my pieces. Beads used in designs are genuine gemstone (often hand cut and polished) and fresh water pearls. Some designs also may include Swarovski crystals, vintage Venetian glass beads, African trade beads, glass beads or other materials and will be specified in the description. Artwork is created using archival materials, museum quality paints and inks. While these materials cost more, the resultant piece will also be of higher quality and will stand the test of time.

Standard shipping for jewelry orders is Priority Mail at a flat rate of $5.95. UPS is available as well. All items are carefully packaged to prevent damage during transit. Artwork shipping price is determined based on size and weight of the finished piece. Additional charges apply for shipping International orders. Please note all quoted timeframes are the times required to produce your piece and do not include the time during transit. Local customers can purchase items on the website and select “Local Pick-Up” if you’d like to arrange pick up at my studio and avoid shipping charges. Pick up times are to be mutually agreed upon.

Gift Wrap

We do not provide traditional gift-wrap; however, all jewelry is presented in an earthy/ organic jewelry box wrapped in a pretty blue piece of fiber/ribbon. Items in the box are secured on a pretty handmade card insert, with business card and artist bio included. Really, no additional gift-wrap is necessary! Organza keepsake pouches are available upon request for a small fee. Artwork does not include a gift box, but is packaged in bubble wrap or peanuts to prevent damage.
